Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy

Online Alternative Provision for Learners with SEND

1. Statement of Commitment

Let's Go Learning is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and accessible online learning environment where all learners, particularly those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), can thrive.

We uphold our duties under the Equality Act 2010 and recognise the additional responsibilities placed on alternative provision settings supporting vulnerable learners.

 

We do not tolerate discrimination, harassment, victimisation, or exclusion on the basis of protected characteristics, including:

  • Age

  • Disability

  • Gender reassignment

  • Marriage and civil partnership

  • Pregnancy and maternity

  • Race (including colour, nationality, and ethnic origin)

  • Religion or belief

  • Sex

  • Sexual orientation
     

As a SEND-focused provision, disability equality and accessibility are central to our ethos.

 

2. Delivery of Services

Let's Go Learning delivers all services in a:

  • Non-discriminatory

  • Professional

  • Trauma-informed

  • Culturally and religiously sensitive

  • SEND-aware and neurodiversity-affirming

  • Inclusive and accessible manner.

 

All service users — including learners, parents/carers, commissioning schools, local authorities, staff, and volunteers — will be treated with dignity and respect at all times.

We ensure that:

  • Staff receive regular training in SEND, safeguarding, equality and inclusive practice.

  • Teaching approaches are adapted to individual needs.

  • Reasonable adjustments are made in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.

  • Online platforms are accessible and suitable for learners with additional needs.

  • Communication is adapted for cognitive, sensory, emotional and language needs.

  • Cultural and religious considerations are respected in scheduling, curriculum content and communication.
     

 

3. Our Duties in Relation to SEND

In accordance with the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice, Let's Go Learning:

  • Uses a person-centred approach to provision.

  • Works collaboratively with parents, carers, commissioning schools and local authorities.

  • Supports outcomes identified in EHCPs (where applicable).

  • Identifies and removes barriers to learning.

  • Promotes inclusion and participation in education.
     

We recognise that many learners in alternative provision may have experienced exclusion, trauma or unmet needs. We are committed to restorative, supportive and strengths-based approaches.

 

4. Equality Objectives and Monitoring

Let's Go Learning will:

  • Publish equality objectives at least every four years (where required).

  • Review progress annually.

  • Conduct equality impact assessments when reviewing policies or introducing changes.

  • Monitor access, engagement and outcomes for different groups of learners.

  • Address any disproportionate patterns of exclusion, disengagement or underachievement.
     

 

5. Online Accessibility and Inclusion

As an online provision, we recognise additional equality considerations. We therefore:

  • Ensure digital platforms are accessible and suitable for SEND learners.

  • Offer flexible engagement methods where appropriate.

  • Provide alternative formats for learning materials when required.

  • Support learners to access technology safely and effectively.

  • Maintain safeguarding oversight in all remote sessions.
     

We recognise that digital exclusion can create inequality and will work with commissioning schools and families to mitigate barriers where possible.

 

6. Roles and Responsibilities

Director

Responsible for ensuring compliance with equality legislation and inclusive practice across the provision.

SENCO / Inclusion Lead

Oversees SEND provision, reasonable adjustments and inclusive strategies.

Safeguarding Lead

Ensures equality considerations are embedded within safeguarding processes.

All Staff 

Must promote equality, challenge discriminatory behaviour and model inclusive practice.

Learners

Are expected to treat others with respect and uphold the values of Let's Go Learning.

 

7. Addressing Discrimination

Any incident of discrimination, harassment or victimisation will be:

  • Taken seriously

  • Recorded

  • Investigated appropriately

  • Addressed proportionately

  • Managed in line with safeguarding procedures where necessary
     

 

8. Review

This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure continued compliance and effectiveness.
