English Provision for Learners with Social, Emotional & Mental Health Needs

We work with young people whose emotional wellbeing affects their ability to access learning.

This may include:

  • Anxiety disorders

  • Low academic self-esteem

  • Previous exclusions

  • Trauma-related responses

  • School-based breakdown

Many learners come to us believing they are “bad at English.”
Often, they are dysregulated — not incapable.

Our Trauma-Informed Approach

  • We prioritise:

  • Psychological safety

  • Predictable routines

  • Clear expectations

  • Relationship-first teaching

  • Success-led task design

  • We help learners experience competence again.

Outcomes We Focus On

  • Increased session attendance

  • Reduced writing avoidance

  • Improved written structure

  • Rebuilt confidence

  • GCSE entry and completion

  • Provision can be delivered as:

  • Part-time alternative provision

  • EOTAS English packages

  • GCSE preparation
